The Australian Defence Force is delivering essential infrastructure upgrades at Moem Barracks in Wewak, Papua New Guinea, as part of the Defence Cooperation Program’s Project 230.
Under the project, the 6th Engineering Support Regiment is upgrading the barracks’ ageing water reticulation system, while local PNG contractors are constructing a new 1‑megalitre water tank and installing a modern sewer line. These works will significantly improve the reliability and functionality of the critical services that support the Central Operations Precinct at Moem Barracks.
Project 230 is overseen by 12th Chief Engineer Works and is scheduled for completion in 2026. The upgrades reflect Australia’s ongoing commitment to supporting the PNG Defence Force through practical, long‑term capability and infrastructure improvements.
