Christina Bernhardt, Ph.D., MSW, shares how her UCF Downtown research is tackling food insecurity through innovative healthcare partnerships. Funded by a Downtown Interdisciplinary Research Initiative grant, the project created a referral system connecting patients with community health workers who help them access food resources after outpatient care.

This work demonstrates how community-engaged research at UCF Downtown is bridging healthcare and social support to improve lives across Central Florida.
