How can research be translated into financial tools that help drive climate transition and wider societal impact? A conversation with Carmen Nuzzo (Professor in Practice and Executive Director of the Transition Pathways Initiative Global Climate Transition Centre) and David Harris (Head of Sustainable Finance Strategic Initiatives & Partnerships, London Stock Exchange Group).
The partnership began when asset owners, including the Church of England Pensions Board and the Environment Agency Pension Fund, needed a rigorous way to assess whether companies’ climate targets were credible and aligned with the Paris Agreement. Around $100 billion in assets are now tracking indexes that include a TPI component, showing how a collaboration that began with a small number of pension funds has grown into a significant financial-market influence.
