The DS1815+ can be upgraded with up to 16GB of RAM (although Synology only officially supports up to 6GB).
This video shows you how to install the two 8GB RAM chips required for maxing out your DiskStation’s memory.
Note: Do this at your own risk! Removing the inner RAM chip will void your warranty, according to Synology. There’s also a risk of damaging your NAS by static shock. Always ground yourself before touching exposed circuit boards or RAM chips.
