Adaptive Telemetry is a suite of features in Grafana Cloud that helps teams control observability data volume by keeping only the telemetry that delivers real value.
Acting as an intelligent filter for your observability stack, Adaptive Telemetry analyzes all of your incoming metrics, logs, traces, and profiles. It continuously evaluates how telemetry is used across dashboards, alerts, and investigations to distinguish high-value signals from low-value noise.
For telemetry that provides little operational value, Adaptive Telemetry can recommend or automatically apply optimizations such as aggregation, sampling, or reduction, while preserving critical data like errors and high-latency events. A built-in feedback loop regularly reanalyzes usage patterns and adapts as systems, workloads, and queries change over time.
The Adaptive Telemetry suite spans all core observability signals in Grafana Cloud, including Adaptive Metrics, Adaptive Logs, Adaptive Traces, and Adaptive Profiles. Teams can also define exemptions to ensure that important signals or dimensions are always retained.
By reducing unnecessary telemetry, Adaptive Telemetry helps teams lower observability costs, reduce noise, and focus on the signals that matter most—without sacrificing visibility or control.
