I had a wonderful time playing with Hercules Brass again in this year’s Celanova Brass Festival!
What you’re seeing and hearing in this video is straight from my Sony video camera with nothing more than the raw audio from its built-in microphone; zero effects added.
With the festival already recording a 7-camera shoot, we were just using my camera to capture a nice angle of the gorgeous monastery and a portion of our large audience. There were certainly no intentions of using the audio from this camera.
But while we all wait for the production of the official audio/video to be finished, I really wanted to share this raw camera audio with you, because it blew my mind when I first heard it!
I am in LOVE with the sound of my Lead/Solo model (paired here with a 2M mouthpiece in bronze) and how incredibly well it projects over the ensemble even while I was merely playing between piano and mezzoforte.
As you can see, the camera is VERY far away from the stage, all the way to one side of the audience, roughly 45 degrees off-axis from my bell, and yet my sound projects so incredibly well that you can hear ALL of it’s tonal properties — the warmth, the sparkle, all with a sense of intimacy that’s normally reserved for ears that are much, much closer to the bell.
My sound, and all of my dynamics & musical nuances carried over the ensemble absolutely effortlessly, which is a magnificent feeling for a soloist.
I hope you enjoy the music, and that you’ll consider ordering a Lead/Solo model from LOTUS today! Regardless of what instruments you’re currently using, I guarantee you’ve never experienced anything like this ever before. -Adam #shorts
