"Actually, It Is Rocket Science" is Teton Gravity Research’s 31st annual ski film, following the world’s best skiers as they turn the mountain into a laboratory and every descent into an experiment.
The study spans Bute Inlet, British Columbia; Haines, Alaska; Japan; Finland; Andorra; Montana; Jay Peak, Vermont; and Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Different mountains, snowpacks, conditions, and approaches—but the same forces are always at work: speed, gravity, instinct, and consequence.
With a tongue-in-cheek look at the seemingly reckless abandon of the world’s best snow athletes, "Actually, It Is Rocket Science" explores the physics behind pushing what is possible—from dissecting a big mountain line and calculating transition to understanding the force and amplitude of a massive gap.
Treating the mountain like a laboratory and every line like an experiment, "Actually, It Is Rocket Science" explores the calculations, instincts, failures, and breakthroughs behind the world’s most consequential ski lines.
The film hits the road with a 200+ stop global film tour, beginning with the world premiere in Jackson Hole on September 19.
