This is my transcription of Mike Clark's drumming on the intro to Herbie Hancock's inspirational composition "Actual Proof", from the 1974 album "Thrust." This transcription covers the first 32 measures, and is an excellent example of the linear funk drumming style, pioneered in the 1970's by drummers like Mike Clark and David Garibaldi.
There's one inaccuracy in the sheet music. In bar 19, I wrote the first snare in beat one as an unaccented buzz, but it's actually an accented stroke as I played it. Also, linear funk drumming is most commonly written in 16th notes, but I chose to write this transcription in 8th notes to fit with how I've heard Mike count it, as well as to conform to the chart that is in the real book.

Take a minute to enjoy the somber, tranquil vibe of Invention No.9 in F Minor. Its got everything you want in a Two Part Invention: nice interplay between the voices, intrepid harmonic movement, and who doesnt love F Minor? All that Baroque goodness wrapped up in the nostalgic Aesthetic of the Chip Tune Aesthetic.
Thanks for listening!

Lo-Fi Cover of Dark Mountain from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. I wanted to make it in the style of hip-hop producers like Mad Lib so a lot of the track is constructed with samples I made from recording acoustic instruments, then simulating running them through vintage samplers like the Amiga or the MPC.
As the track started to take shape, something about it reminded me a lot of the the classic track Frontier Psychiatrist by The Avalanches (linked here):

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is an action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. It is the third game in The Legend of Zelda series and was released in 1991 in Japan and 1992 in North America and Europe.
The story is set many years before the events of the first two Zelda games. The player assumes the role of Link as he journeys to save Hyrule, defeat the demon king Ganon, and rescue the descendants of the Seven Sages. It returns to a top-down perspective similar to the original The Legend of Zelda, dropping the side-scrolling gameplay of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. It introduced series staples such as parallel worlds and items including the Master Sword.
A Link to the Past is widely considered among the greatest video games ever made, with particular praise for its presentation and innovative gameplay. It was ported to the Game Boy Advance as A Link to the Past and Four Swords in 2002, and sold 6.5 million copies across

I spent many hours waking up before dawn and playing Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest for hours before school back in the early 90s. The game itself is a bit of an after thought for most people, but it offered some really great music - so here is my Lo-Fi Hip Hop arrangement of Shrine of Light.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link[a] is an action role-playing game developed and published by Nintendo. It is the second installment in the Legend of Zelda series and was released in Japan for the Famicom Disk System on January 14, 1987—less than one year after the Japanese release and seven months before the North American release of the original The Legend of Zelda. Zelda II was released in North America and the PAL region for the Nintendo Entertainment System in late 1988, almost two years after its initial release in Japan.
The Adventure of Link is a direct sequel to the original The Legend of Zelda, again involving the protagonist Link, on a quest to save Princess Zelda, who has fallen under a sleeping spell. The games emphasis on side-scrolling and role-playing elements is a significant departure from its predecessor. For much of the series three-decade history, the game technically served as the only sequel to the original game, as all other entries in the series are either prequels or occur in an alternative reality, according to the official Zelda timeline. This changed with the release of Breath of the Wild in 2017 and Tears of the Kingdom in 2023, which serve as the latest chapters to the Zelda continuity.[3]
The game was a critical and financial success and introduced elements such as Links magic meter and the Dark Link character that would become commonplace in future Zelda games, although the role-playing elements, such as experience points and limited lives have not been used since in canonical games. The Adventure of Link was followed by A Link to the Past for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991.

![The Sorrows of Parting [Final Fantasy V Instrumental Cover]
The Final Fantasy series has always been my favorite video game series of all time - however, last summer I realized that I had never played Final Fantasy V. I decided I would jump into it and make a cover album once I got a feel for the characters and story. The result was 10 tracks of jammy, instrumental, video game covers. When I began playing with the pieces, I found that many of them left quite a lot of space for musical exploration, so the direction I took was to try to incorporate all the familiar elements of the Final Fantasy sound world we all know and love, but put them in a new sonic landscape.
This album is also important for me because it is the first full length album that I created entirely by myself, and is my first attempt at engineering/producing. Ill be posting a few tracks here on YouTube each week until theres none left, then maybe releasing it on the streaming platforms after that.

Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars[a] is a role-playing video game developed by Square and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1996.[b] It was the final Mario game published for the SNES. The game was directed by Chihiro Fujioka and Yoshihiko Maekawa, produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, and scored by Yoko Shimomura.
Super Mario RPGs story focuses on Mario and his friends as they seek to defeat the Smithy Gang, who has crashed into their world and scattered the seven star pieces of Star Road. Super Mario RPG is the first RPG in the Mario franchise, drawing from major elements of Squares RPG franchises such as Final Fantasy. The main form of fighting enemies is turn-based combat with a party of up to three characters. It is also the first game in the Mario franchise to have gameplay within an isometric 3D environment, allowing for a new variety of the exploration and platforming elements reminiscent of the Super Mario series.
Super Mario RPG was critically acclaimed, and particularly praised for its humor and 3D-rendered graphics. It was the inspiration for Nintendos other role-playing series, Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi, and both are spiritual successors which retain some gameplay elements. Super Mario RPG was released on the Wii Virtual Console service in 2008, marking its debut in Europe and Australia, and later for the Wii Us Virtual Console in 2015. It was also included with the Super NES Classic Edition in 2017. A remake for the Nintendo Switch is set to be released on November 17, 2023.
