Maurice, an old washed-up stage actor, sees a modern production of Macbeth and is particularly repulsed by the production’s depiction of Banquo’s Ghost as a mere empty chair. Then an idea comes to him. It had been 17 years since his actress prodigy daughter Marsha had died; was she murdered? The old actor has his suspects each with his own motives, and among them are an amorous playwright, a Prussian stage producer/director, and Maurice Stein – an arrogant theatrical agent. The awful production of Macbeth he has just seen gives him an idea to reveal his daughter’s murderer in a most thespian way – a home banquet with all the suspects and a local DA present.

Actor’s blood – the crimson substance upon the stage dagger. Actor’s blood, the notion that one inherits acting talent; in this we have the driving force of this tale, well-calculated to keep you in – suspense!
