Dense bacterial flows exhibit a turbulence-like phase which has recently been modeled by using a generalized Navier Stokes equation (Wensink et al., PNAS 2012). The video shows a simulation of this active turbulence phase. The simulation was conducted by using a pseudospectral algorithm on a 1024x1024 grid with a time step of 0.002.
