Given Rich's talk at Reef Retreat 2026, flow has been on my mind. When visiting Dong Zou's AcroGarden, the first thing I noticed was flow.
Dong shows that flow is not just movement; it is delivery, exchange, and export. It brings food and oxygen to coral, strips waste away, breaks up stagnant boundary layers, and keeps detritus from settling where it can cause problems. Good flow is not achieved by picking a random pump mode and walking away. It has to be watched, tested, redirected, and adjusted as rockwork, coral growth, and pump performance change over time.
Thank you for a wonderful visit, Dong!
