Describing my analog phone network setup that allows to actually test old phone modems at home.
Asterisk VOIP exchange server, plus a cheap SPA-2102 dual port analog phone to VOIP adapter.
I believe this is probably the cheapest way to re-create a 2 lines analog phone network. Plus, it can be expanded over the internet!
A little information about the famous (in Italy!) Siemens S62 "modello unificato bigrigio" rotary pulse dial telephone.
Also starring the dutch PTT T65 telephone of the same era.
Also starring the Olivetti WS-685 serial terminal and the Prentice Star V.21-232A acoustic coupler.
