Reducing structural borne sound in soil stacks due to thermal expansion is a big issue…

So OSMA have developed something called the Acoustic Coupler and this is how it works…

there’s a captive ring seal at one end for a secure and reliable joint and an expandable rubber gasket at the other that’s specifically designed to tackle thermal expansion and allow the pipe to move in the fitting by up to 18mm.

And when installed with an access fitting, you can physically see the expansion gap.
