One of the most ambitious rulers in Chinese history was Qin Shi Huang - the very first emperor who unified China. His tomb, which lies within the Lintong District is famous for being guarded by the Terracotta Army, sculptures that are said to protect him in the afterlife. Perhaps it is these ancient guards that steer the modern archeologist away from these sacred grounds or maybe, theres something even more deadly inside...
Ancient Chinese historian Sima Qian wrote about the emperors tomb and how both intricate and deadly booby traps were left inside. Craftsmen were ordered to make crossbows and arrows primed to shoot at anyone who enters the tomb. Mercury was used to simulate the hundred rivers, the Yangtze and Yellow River, and the great sea, and set to flow mechanically.

Some studies also indicate there is a higher concentration of mercury around the tomb, perhaps lending some validation to the chilling account.
