Shweta Ghosh is a documentary filmmaker and researcher. A silver medalist from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, she has explored her interest in food, travel, music and disability through various research and film projects.
Rajiv Mehrotra is the founding Managing Trustee and Commissioning Editor of PSBT - his films have won more than 300 awards worldwide, including 32 in 31 years from the President of India. His nine books are available in 50 languages and editions. PSBT was a not-for-profit that nurtured and supported the production of independent documentary films by a diversity of filmmakers from across India. Over two decades, it produced close to 700 documentary films, each film averaging two film festival selections and every second film an award. PSBT was led by some of India's iconic film personalities - Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Mrinal Sen, Shyam Benegal, Sharmila Tagore, with Fali Nariman and Kiran Karnik. From its inception in 2000, Tulika Srivastava was a key member of the Team, joined in 2005, by Ridhima Mehra.

It looks at the current state of the old city through two families, who are witnessing this loss of space, culture and time. A parwaaz, or a flight, is what everybody yearns for, and staying close to the roots which give us this flight is what this film seeks to explore

Syed Mohammed Afnan is a media professional based in New Delhi. Currently working as a producer at NDTV with three years of experience in television production, his dexterity to bring writing and editing together provides a well-rounded expertise in creative storytelling across genres. Space studies and technology are two of his areas of focus. His short video-diary ‘sixty days of solitude’ has won the Jury Award in the PSBT Film Challenge.

Kallol Mukherjee is a Mumbai-based filmmaker from Jabalpur, who recently served as an Associate Director on an OTT documentary series co-produced by Juggernaut and Applause Entertainment. His student short documentary Khori received accolades at IDSFFK 2022 and “Badariya” at IDSFFK 2023. His feature film Who am I?—for which he also penned the screenplay and dialogues—was released in theatres and streamed on JioCinema. Currently, he works as an Associate Creative Director for a feature documentary film for DocuBay OTT. Mic Drop is his debut short documentary by PSBT, India.

This film is a part of PSBTs mentoring initiative, Doc_Commune. Launched in 2021, the programme offers a dedicated space for young filmmakers to engage with experienced professionals, refine their projects, and build a supportive community. Through a series of masterclasses, feedback sessions, and conversations, Doc_Commune encourages creative exploration while offering practical guidance on the documentary process. It serves as a bridge between early-career filmmakers and the larger documentary ecosystem. Harjas Singh works on Doc_Commune as Assistant Producer.

A total of 320 million learners in India have been adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and had to transition to e-learning. Two of them are the kids of the Mahalle family. Both of them are excited when the online school starts as they have all the freedom and time to explore new things. Through the film, there shall be a series of incidents that take place during this period. New problems arise with the new learning platforms and the family has to come together to respond to it. How will the Mahalle family fare in this new world?

Akshay Ingle, an FTII Cinematography student, His 2nd-year student Documentary film project named “Our mountain Valley home” premiered at DIFF 2020, he shot a short film named “Pipanya” selected in 12th IDSFFK. A former Instrumentation engineer, Akshay also writes shorts stories and does photography. His photograph was published in Smart photography magazine which encouraged him to join FTII on a Bank job. His home town is Akola through he has spent his entire childhood in the Vidarbha part of Maharashtra. Before entering the filmmaking world, he used to work for a special child’s orphanage through NSS, which gives him a special insight into child psychology and this new platform of online education.
