i haven't tried to beat my pb in 6 months - i've just been playing out sub xqc's and sub forsen's for 6 months straight for fun on stream twitch.tv/k4yfour
since i was playing it for fun, expecting it to be a sub15 or something, this run is a complete accident and in terms of pace shouldn't have happened at all - this was my 2nd nether of the day, plus i've had dozens of runs 1-3 minutes faster to fortress that just got unlucky in other areas, like 4 other recent sub11 completed runs that were just 10-20 seconds slower than my pb, and 5 sub9 end enters that all could have sub10d if i was lucky with dragon
10:52 the zero cycle in this run is crazy, i usually sort my inventory and hotbar very specifically so that there's less room for error when performing the build but i didn't have time for that so i had to improvise (which i don't practice), and at the height that i built the setup at it's very likely that the dragon flies away before you're able to kill it, so with a bit of luck and 5/5 perfect timing explosives its the highlight of the run for sure (most zero cycles are done with 6-7 explosives)
i'm still burnt out from doing pb attempts and it doesn't interest me at all to beat my pb, playing out runs and talking to chat has been the most fun i've ever had, i'm secure in my speedrunning ability and don't feel like i have to prove myself on the leaderboard anymore given my speedrunning history, plus beating my pb on accident when playing out silly runs like this is a lot more entertaining and funny compared to grinding torturous laborious sessions for weeks on end. again i've already had sub10 pace 5 times and just didn't get lucky on any of them so it's already certain that i can sub10 and probably sub9, it will just take me much longer on average to get those times since i'm not resetting when the pace is bad (most streams i just farm 5 or so 11-17minute runs for fun)
minecraft speedrunning is the only game in its roughly definable genre of offline competitive sandbox gaming and is unmatched in its strategy, mechanical potential and replayability. its a fun ass game and i wouldn't take back the time i've spent in it for how much i've gotten out of it. shoutout to my regulars before the boom for being around during 2022 for i wouldve quit in 2021 if it weren't for them, and thanks to everyone who watches in 2023 for making this year so fun and eventful
i quit streaming late last year since i was burnt out and felt like i had achieved enough, so i owe everything to @JesseSMFI for letting me on to his stream to help him learn the game, getting me back in to streaming, reinspiring me and introducing me to his friends and community, and moving my life on to a new path i didn't think would ever be available to me
