Let's talk about why and how I'm adding accessibility features to my game Dawnfolk to create an inclusive gaming experience.

Dawnfolk is a charmingly dark minimalist survival city-builder indie game. Collect resources and rebuild your realm one tile at a time as you protect your settlers from oppressive shadows. Can you unveil the secrets of the monoliths to bring light back to the world?

The previous title of my game was "Lueur and the Dim Settlers".

In a world of darkness, you are the ruler who has been chosen to lead a new settlement. Your followers are lost and scared. They are low on food, lumber, and other resources. Hope is not gone! Lueur, your fiery companion, lights your way.

Will you be the ruler who turns a blind eye to disasters? How will you handle difficult moral choices? Can you grow your settlement effectively enough to survive as a beacon of light for future settlers?

In Dawnfolk, you must balance your resources to explore your surrounding tiles. The choices you make affect the success of your fledgling town. You might opt to uncover a hunting ground to provide more food for your villagers through meaningful minigames. Or you might choose to forge a path towards the mine and yield a recurring source of lumber.

Minigames add a unique challenge to supporting your people. The better you are at the minigames, the more resources you get and the more likely your community will weather the darkness.

Every choice matters as you explore different strategies and play styles in Dawnfolk.

Decades ago, titanic obsidian monoliths rained down from the sky. A raging tempest of unfathomable darkness gathered around them, slowly crawling across the world and consuming all in its path. You are the ruler of this land, once mighty and resolute, now broken and wounded. But not defeated! You intend to reclaim the realm and bring back light to the world.

After years of wandering, your story begins as you finally find the Lueur, a mythical creature able to radiate a powerful enough brightness to dissipate darkness. It is time to explore the shadows and rebuild your realm.

Not everyone has time to invest hundreds of hours into learning how to play a grand strategy game. You can dive right in and start building your settlement immediately, going from a handful of tents to a big city in less than an hour.

Dawnfolk was designed to feel familiar, yet unlike any building strategy game you’ve ever played before. Unwind and play with ease, whether you’re at home or on the go, with your gamepad, keyboard, or handheld console. Go back to the roots of gaming, where exploration and experimentation are the key to fun and discovery.

Set out into the mysterious darkness as you build to survive, thrive, or relax - the choice is yours. Experience the game on both macro and micro levels, as you oversee the management of your structures and resources, while also immersing yourself in mini arcade games to collect resources. Explore the world and story as you reshape it.

Your choices directly determine the fate of your realm and its inhabitants.

Will you succeed in bringing light back to the world?
