In 2018, Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho was awarded the 10th BBVA Foundation Frontiers of Knowledge Award in the Music and Opera category for “a contribution to contemporary music that is extraordinary in its individuality, breadth and scope”, according to the jury. This video shows the acceptance speech she delivered at the presentation ceremony of this award in June of that year.
