A new bill is aiming to update the judicial system around parenting and is getting closer to becoming law. Senate Bill 174 has passed the Senate and is now waiting for the House to put it on the floor for a vote. Over the last three years, about 45 kids were murdered by a parent in Ohio, according to the Ohio Domestic Violence Network. Those in favor of the bill said it is putting children’s safety on the spotlight. Those against it said it's neglecting to highlight parental rights.
