Abstraction 150.200-2 13 A is a painting by French artist Nicolas Galtier.
The artist uses a mixed technique combining pigments, binders, glues and various metal powders and sheets. The composition is based on a colour palette cantered on shades of gold and silver.
Nicolas Galtier’s abstract works emerge from a reflection that revolves around two themes. On the one hand, he draws inspiration from the traces left by time on objects and ancient works of art, capturing their mysterious and timeless beauty by superimposing layers of different materials. On the other hand, he explores motifs common to different civilisations throughout history, which he interprets as a true “sacred geometry”.
His canvases, born of a technique that is both intuitive and masterful, open up a contemplative universe bathed in light. Through the use of metallic powders and metal leaf, the artist creates shifting reflections on the surfaces of his paintings, while contrasting tones and textures lend his compositions a vibrant depth and a subtle sense of movement.
Nicolas Galtier has been exhibiting in Europe and Japan since 2010. He has taken part in several editions of the Révélations biennial in Paris, and his work has been featured in international publications including AD, Vogue Allemagne, Le Figaro and The Guardian. His work now forms part of private collections all over the world, and has been chosen by fashion houses, luxury hotels and heritage sites.
