High Guardian Spice creator Raye Rodriguez made a Twitter thread blaming the budget for the not so stellar quality of the show. No disrespect to Rodriguez but that thread kind of came off as making excuses. According to his own website he was at the helm of all the departments, including the writing. So the dialogue and exposition dumps can largely be traced back to him. We aren't trying to harp on him but we think this whole thing could be a good learning experience for the future.
