One of my biggest fears has to be tornadoes. Even though we don’t really get them in the UK, and when we do they’re usually pretty small and non-deadly, there have been a few that have been quite destructive, like the 2005 Birmingham tornado, which makes it pretty scary to me.
So this swap links to that, since this solo had some of Chloe’s longer turn sequences which represents the how a tornado can spin very fast and for very long, representing the tornado growing over time. I chose this song and cut it in a specific way, so that the song builds intensity over time just like a tornado does, but gets less intense near the end, representing the tornado dying out and ending. The lyrics ‘i wish everything could stop, let me breathe’ represents my anxiety surrounding tornados. I guess you really gotta be careful what you wish for, since people don’t think the UK gets any tornados, but we actually get more per square mile than the USA does. A lot of tornadoes also come with rain, and I associate rain with the colour blue, just like chloe’s costume.
