This is an Aboriginal dance with accompanying song and mandapul (didgeridoo) tune concerned with Girringgirring or necklace. Location is Gapuwiyak community in the Northern Territory, Australia.
The camera vantage point gives the viewer a sense of spatial orientation with regards to the positioning of singers, didgeridoo player, and dancers.
Note the melodic structure of the vocal segments and how this does not vary between singers though individual singers might be pitched differently to each other. All singers follow the same melodic structure. This functions as an "identity card" of sorts.
Clifton and Jerol offered animated dancing for the camera, and either Gotjiki or Honeyboy provided didgeridoo accompaniment.
Despite the occasion being one of recreation and amusement, the coordination of voice, clapstick beat, didgeridoo and dance movement was tight.
The yidaki component was especially powerful, fast and technically difficult. It is worth bearing in mind that it is but one element in an ensemble.
