Abscission continues the trend of creating a lot of tension and challenge with a minimum of monsters and actual map real estate. Snaxalotl is really leaning into her vision with his mapset, and it's clear that vanilla constraints provide a very effective barrier to bounce her creativity off and force her to adapt her style. While this set continues to invoke motifs and imagery from DOOM2.WAD, these maps are far more like twisted malformations of their stock influences than wholesale replicas. Doom 2 certainly never had a mean streak like Abscission does, but I can't say I'm upset about that.
