A pipe cleaner star flower stays open all day, which is more than the real ones manage. The blooms here sit above a fan of long green leaves, all of it in a small pot built from the same stems.
Blue-eyed grass grows wild in meadows from southern Canada down through Texas and Florida, and it looks close to this: narrow sword-shaped leaves in a clump, small purple stars floating over the top. Each of those flowers opens in the morning and is finished by evening. One made from chenille stems skips that part, and the fuzz on the wire gives the petals a soft edge that reads surprisingly close to the real thing.
The tutorial walks through shaping the petals into a star, tapering the leaves so they hold a point instead of flopping, and packing the pot so the whole clump stands on its own. It's a full potted plant made from pipe cleaners alone, and a first-timer can follow the whole build. Bending is most of the work here.
