Solanum mammosum is a funny-looking fruit that people call nipplefruit, fox head, cow’s udder, or apple of Sodom. You can’t eat it because it’s yucky and not good for your tummy. People grow it because it looks pretty and silly—part of it looks like a person’s chest, and another part looks like a cow’s belly! It’s a plant that grows for just one year and is cousins with yummy foods like eggplant, tomato, and potato. This tricky fruit comes from South America, but now it lives in lots of warm places like Mexico and some islands.
