There was no chance this week’s guest programmer would end up on the rage Cutting Room Floor - it’s multi-talented singer-songwriter Gordi!
The project of Sophie Payten, Gordi has not only been a much-loved part of the Australian music scene for years, but she won over even more hearts when she dropped everything and returned to work as a doctor during the COVID pandemic, an experience she draws on in her most recent album, Like Plasticine. Released last week, the record landed at #9 in the ARIA album charts and follows on from her 2017 debut Reservoir and 2020’s sophomore LP Our Two Skins, both of which also reached the Top 20 as well as earning nominations in triple j’s J Awards.
Now, the Naarm-via LA-via Eora-via Canowindra artist is currently gearing up for a slew of shows across the UK and Europe before returning home for a tour around Aus. But before she jets off Gordi is stopping by the studio to line up music videos that have shaped her life and career.
