Here's an excerpt from the long-running ABC Network soap opera General Hospital during what is considered the show's peak in the late 1970's and early '80's. As well as commemorating the show's 60th anniversary, this is also in a sense a tribute to actress Jacklyn Zeman (a.k.a. nurse Bobbie Spencer), who died on May 9th 2023 - and who figures in this episode.

Includes:

Recording coming in midway through scene with Dr. Alan Quartermaine (Stuart Damon) and Monica (Leslie Charleson), then Susan Moore (Gail Ramsey) hits up Joe (Doug Sheehan) for information at a restaurant bar, then Mitch Williams (Christopher Pennock) and Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) arrive for a table seat

Commercials for:
Chee-tos cheese-flavored snacks (with Jonathan Winters as player for Chipmunks baseball team)
Mattel Preschool Tuff Stuff shopping basket (each sold separately) (voiceover by Mason Adams)
Silverstone non-stick surface - by DuPont
Promo for Ryan's Hope, General Hospital, The Edge of Night - "Love in the Afternoon" (voiceover by Bill Owen?)

In the next segment, Luke (Tony Geary) and Bobbie have it out, Jeff Webber (Richard Dean Anderson, the future MacGyver) gives Dr. Steve Hardy (John Beradino) a piece of his mind (and then some) about Bobbie, Tracy has it out with Mitch, then when she steps out he summons Susan, after returning Tracy wishes a sarcastic best wishes to her

Commercials for:
New Improved Cleaning Lemon Pledge
New BeFresh! toilet bowl cleaner/deodorizer (featuring Fran Ryan)
Chuck Wagon dog food - "Crunchewy"

Incomplete closing credits (after a long period where the closing theme's volume is brought down, David Hartman gets in his voiceover promo for Good Morning America, then recording ends just as voiceover promo for Eight Is Enough by George Ansbro gets underway)

This aired on local Texas TV on Tuesday, November 20th 1979 during the 2:00pm to 3:00pm timeframe.

About The Museum of Classic Chicago Television:

The MCCTv (FuzzyMemoriesTV) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose primary mission is the preservation and display of off-air, early home videotape recordings (70s to early 80s, mostly) recorded off of TV (in Chicago or other cities now too); things which would likely be lost if not sought out and preserved digitally. If you have any old 1970s videotapes recorded off of TV please email: tapes@fuzzy.tv Even though (mostly) short clips are displayed here, we preserve the entire broadcasts in our archives - the complete programs with breaks (or however much is present on the tape), for historical preservation. For information on how to help in our mission, to donate or lend tapes to be converted to digital, please e-mail tapes@fuzzy.tv Thank you for your help!
