The Klotz Throwing Company is a location that has been on my radar for many years. Constructed in 1905 and abandoned in 1957, this silk mill has been sitting for 68 years. Around 2019, the caretaker Herb Crawford unfortunately passed away. Shortly after the property went under new ownership with promises to repair the damaged roof and begin offering tours again. At this point exploration the traditional way was not an option as the property was completely covered in cameras. I was waiting for my opportunity to do a video tour, but that never happened. Eventually the owner stopped replying to the public and a recent photo showed the building was decaying rapidly. I had a feeling this would finally be my chance to see it, and it was. I was happy to finally experience the mill in person, yet seeing it just before its inevitable demise was bittersweet. At the very least I am happy the history of this one of a kind location can live on through this video. Enjoy!
