Abandoned Places! Exploring forgotten abandoned zoo in Austin, Texas USA. An Urban Exploration video from the Dead Explorer! Explore this forgotten abandoned zoo outside the Austin urban area. This place was open from 1939 to 1969. It started off as a gas station with a monkey and than quickly expanded into a full blown zoo. However, when they opened highway I35 east of the zoo, all traffic left and the zoo closed. Now it is all but forgotten. To this day, Austin is one of the biggest US cities without a zoo.
