More than 40 homes in this community were purchased as part of plans for a proposed high-speed railway. Families moved out, houses were left sitting vacant, and as the years passed, many of them began to deteriorate. Neighbors say squatters eventually started taking over some of the empty homes. Properties were broken into, vandalized, stripped, and left in terrible condition — all while families continued living just feet away. Today, entire sections of this neighborhood feel more like a ghost town than the community they once were.
