HOT SPRINGS, Ark. (KTHV) --Two days after a suspicious fire gutted the Majestic Hotel in Hot Springs, the spa city turned to demolition.
"This is a piece of history that I hate to see it go down," said Hot Springs resident Maxine Stewart. "I'm here to get in some pictures, so I have some memories of it."
The demolition began Friday night and throughout Saturday afternoon, a crane slowly took the century-old building apart.
"Well, it's kind of sad; it's historic, and it's just a lot of memories I'm sure for a lot of people," said onlooker Sherri Speidan.

Abandoned Arkansas photographer Michael Schwarz shared the following YouTube.com videos with THV11 that show the dilapidated building on the inside from 2012 and 2014. Schwarz said his last visit to the Majestic Hotel was a mere two weeks ago.
"We've been inside, we've scoped the entire interior, Schwarz said. "The floors were just rotting. The walls were caving in on themselves. The trees were starting to grow inside."
City and state flags flew at half mast for most of the afternoon.
"All of those memories just piled into one now--you can't make out anything of what they were anymore," Schwarz said. "It's just no telling what was there."
A steady stream of spectators gathered to say goodbye and to catch one final glimpse of something that once was so Majestic.
"A bunch of people have said they are going to miss it," Stewart said. "I'm going to miss it too."
By late afternoon most of the original and oldest part of the once grand hotel had fallen.
