The 2024-2025 Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) Peer Support Project established a Consortium of about 60 people from more than 30 different organizations from across the country. Our goal was to explore what peer supports currently exist for AAC users and develop recommendations on making AAC peer support more universally available.
The Consortium met monthly to report progress. On August 28, 2024, Bob Williams discussed what AAC Peer Support means to him.

The Consortium was made up of AAC users, service providers, family members, educators, representatives from disability rights and self-advocacy organizations, AAC manufacturers, and others who also have expertise in AAC and peer support.
The OHSU University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) partnered with CommunicationFIRST (communicationfirst.org), Administration for Community Living, and the Association of University Centers on Disabilities on this project.
