Caught the awkward moment on camera. The flight to DFW from Las Vegas was already loaded, and fully booked. We were already seated. Before we left the bridge, the attendant announced that the captain needed 32 people to volunteer to get off the plane. They could NOT get their checked bags, if they had them. But what they were promised is a $1500 voucher, and a free seat on the next flight to DFW. It was 114°, which makes the plane need 30% more runway to takeoff at full weight. Problem is, the long runway was congested, so to try to make time they needed to use a short runway. Issue there is a full A321 in 114° can’t safely takeoff on the short runway. The solution? Bribe people to get off. And it worked, eventually. #LasVegas #Travel #AmericanAirlines
