Although the duo is able to escape the interior of the vault, they are immediately halted from leaving, as Cubon left the helicopter they came in on stalling. To make matters worse, the two are attacked by a giant robot Octopus rising out of the water. With no other option, they take on the boss of the Vault stage, A-04 Octo-Master.
As Cubon the boss is mostly fought, shooting out of the helicopter while Orbon fights a good portion of it on the ground. The boss has a number of particularly devastating projectile and melee attacks but is weak just about anywhere on its body.
