Carlos Perez grew up with the original 151 Pokémon, so when the Scarlet & Violet set launched, he and Rocky began collecting together. They were just one card shy of the full set.
January’s Pacific Palisades fire destroyed everything—the family’s pictures, clothes, letters… their home. Their son Jude’s pin collection. And their youngest son Rocky’s Pokémon collection.
As they rebuilt their lives, Carlos promised Rocky they would rebuild their collection together—bigger and better than before. In March, they tracked down some packs of the newly released Prismatic Evolutions set.
No one could believe what happened next…
