![Dear Abby... but Books: Recommendations for a Covid Winter [CC]
I recently received a letter asking for book recommendations to help a reader through some tough times this winter:
Dear Amrita By the Book,
When I was young, I was a big reader, but lately I barely manage a paragraph in The New Yorker at bedtime before I pass out. My bookshelf is crowded with serious literature that goes unread. When I do happen across a real page-turner, I tear through it, happy as can be. However, Im snobby enough that I dont enjoy best-sellers if the writing is poor, like, say, the Twilight series or Dan Browns books. I would really like something good to curl up with while Covid winter rages here in the U.S. Do you have any recommendations for well-written novels that are hard to put down?
Sincerely,
Used to Be Smart
0:00 Dear Me
1:18 Ground Rules
2:24 The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman
3:35 Beach Read by Emily Henry
5:31 This Rough Magic by Mary Stewart
7:32 The Night Circus by Erin Morganstern
8:47 The Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters
