Friday, June 7, 2024 - For this week’s First Chapter Friday read aloud video I’m going to share A World Below by Wesley King. This might be my favorite book of 2024 (at least, so far)! I don’t like to be scared… but this survival story had me on the edge of my seat from page one until the very end! Plus, I’ve been interested in caves and ancient civilizations since I was a kid, so this book sucked me in real quick! If you like field trips, classrooms full of unique kids, mysteries, strange environments, bioluminescence, science, adventure, and, and, and… you are going to LOVE this book. The best way I think I can describe this book is like if the book Hatchet happened to an 8th grade class on Avatar’s Pandora while on a field trip with the Magic School bus’s Ms. Frizzle. Do the students of Mr. Baker’s class really know each other at all? Or do they just think they do? It turns out, it’s hard to hide in the dark.
