I've been keeping track of the iRacing AI project with a keen professional interest. I make heavy use of AI in my video production so I've been waiting on the iRacing AI like a kid in the weeks before Christmas. In short, I'm really very impressed with the AI implementation in iRacing. At the bare minimum, it works well, and the AI don't make any glaring, immersion breaking errors. But, that's very much daming it with faint praise. The nuances of how the AI drivers actually pilot the vehicles really does make for a more immersive AI experience overall than any other racing sim in my opinion. Sure, there's still work to do, particularly when it comes to defensive driving, but I'm confident that it'll all come together.
