This will be my attempting SMB3SMAS project that will begin on January 2024. Currently Mega Man at the Tokyo Olympics 2 is on hold. Before the project starts, all SMB3 contest levels for this channel MUST be played blind with selfie commentary meaning levels can't be viewed on a level editor or watching any videos including Discord channels that may spoil the fun.
It's not a full hack but a spinoff series depending how many levels are being submitted that will break into tiers similar to Make a Good Mega Man Level Contest. Levels over 20 entries will go up to Tier 5. I'm expecting 81 like with Make a Good Mega Man Level Contest 2 that will go up to Tier 8 meaning 10 levels each per world from Worst to Best.
If a level uses custom palettes, then these palettes should match their NES counterparts. If a level uses sprites that aren't vanilla meaning garbled graphics then the graphic level header sets should be modified to match their NES counterparts. If a level submitted that crashes your game, then the end level sprite will be placed since it's not allowed in gameplay.
So far MSU-1 is imported and the title screen is designed, using Yoshifanatic1's standalone SMB3 SNES rom.
