A few weeks ago, I documented another “week in the life of a freelance musician”. One theme that emerged was payment for performance and how I decide whether to accept a job depending on what it pays. Bottom line is: the better a gig is for me (does it allow me to connect with potential fans? Does it make me feel good while I’m playing?), the less I will be concerned with how much it pays. If a gig is not particularly beneficial to me and is more beneficial to the venue or company that hired me (am I background music? Is the sound system good or do I have to bring my own amplification ? Do I feel at ease or anxious?), I will be more concerned with it paying well.

14:19 - Interfaith Thanksgiving Concert - I went over a week (8 days) in this video because this concert is one of the best days of the year for me. Various congregations of different faiths gather to share music around the theme of gratitude. It’s so wonderful to come together with other faiths and spend time reflecting on what we share in common and how we can be good neighbors in a divided world.
