In this video (sped up by a factor of 2.5), the sugar cube is in a saturated solution of sugar water. Even though the solution is saturated, the sugar cube breaks down, because parts of it are dissolving. Nevertheless, no net sugar goes into solution. That's because for every molecule of sugar that dissolves, another molecule has to precipitate out of solution.
