For many years, Guy Manning has expressed his musical vision through the band Damanek. And make no mistake, Damanek is Manning’s project, though he surrounds himself with outstanding musicians and producers.

The latest release—the third—is called "Making Shore". And it is a tour de force, one that melds together many musical genres to come up with a unique and pleasing sound. It features top notch players such as Sean Timms (Southern Empire), who contributes keys and background vocals and handles production. Marek Arnold (United Progressive Fraternity, Flaming Row) contributes sax and reeds, adding a smooth jazz take in the effort.

"Making Shore" is actually a two-part record. The first side is a series of songs about the human condition. The second is a narrative tale called 'Oculus', which may be the finest thing that Danamek has done—so far.
