How to add punch to only one part of your kick using multiband expansion.
A transient designer is great, but it hits the whole kick at once. More snap means more of everything. A multiband expander does the same job with way more control, because you aim it at one frequency band.
Put a band over the area you want to bring forward and set the threshold. Every time the kick breaches it, that band gets pushed up. Just that one. Want more thump, put the band on the low end. Want more snap, aim it at the top. The rest of the kick stays exactly as it was.
Punch precisely where you want it, and nowhere you don't.
