oh thank GOD i finished this time before the 8th aka nishikis birthday and its important that i did now excuse me while i get sentimental
its no secret that majima is my favorite character of like. all time but nishiki is a very close second. i fell for the man he was in y0, and then cried when i learned of his downfall in kiwami. its absolutely jarring watching him become so cold, yet he makes the best antagonist in the entire series. while you end up hating his actions he does as the antagonist, you cant bring yourself to hate him what you learn about why hes now this way. hes a very flawed man, set up for failure by the man whos supposed to support him, and its heartbreaking. while i wish he lived and got the chance for redemption, i still cant help but love him, not just as a character but as a person. even through his actions, when you remember him in y0, you cant help but feel your heart ache for him and want better for him. kiwami will probably remain my all time favorite yakuza game, and i think a portion of that can be contributed to nishiki.
so happy early birthday, nishiki. years later after first picking up this game I still think you deserve the world. youll always have my love.
