Here's something I thought I'd try out. Some of you may remember how in 1988, when Clokey Productions/Premavision was producing the "Gumby Adventures" revival series for Lorimar-Telepictures, they also went and re-dubbed the sound for the 1950s and 1960s episodes, to make them sound consistent with the newly-produced episodes. This included the new MIDI background music tracks, sweetened sound effects, and new voice tracks (with Dallas McKennon reprising the role of Gumby for all of them, though in the originals he only voiced Gumby from 1957 to 1966). In this case, I present to you the infamous 1962 episode "The Small Planets." You know, the one with the freaky piano boy who goes feral when Pokey sneezes on his arpeggio. (Though I lean the original sound more to the left and the reduced audio to the right, so you can tell them apart better.) This was also one of the stranger "Gumby" episode re-dubs; in addition to cutting out a 34-second sequence when Gumby and Pokey fly through space, the infamous arpeggio scene wasn't re-dubbed, presumably due the scene not containing any licensed Capitol Hi-Q stock music and because Dallas McKennon voiced Gumby in both (though McKennon voiced Pokey in the original 1962 soundtrack, and Art Clokey voiced Pokey in the 1988 dub soundtrack), but a few new sound effects were still added.
