SITREP
Negotiations have been ongoing throughout the week with the X-rays within the stronghold. The extra time ‘Prophet’ allowed for the UN to debate the issue has passed.
SO15 negotiators succeeded in talking the terrorists down from executing one of the hostages once the deadline passed. Negotiations have been continuing throughout the night and into today. The negotiation team have succeeded in securing the release of 12 hostages from the stronghold in exchange for a statement from the terrorists to be read out on the BBC, Sky News and CNN, reiterating their initial demands and calling on all fellow Muslims in western countries to rise up in Jihad against the imperialist West.
The hostages are due to be released this evening at 2100hrs local time pending confirmation by the terrorists of the statements being broadcast. As a further concession, all Altis security forces have pulled back, leaving only covert OPs manned by the SRR and SFSG sniper teams.
Further exploitation by Sqn assets to gain more accurate positions of X-rays and Yankees has been hampered by the X-rays re-activating the CCTV system using the equipment left by the work men before the siege preventing CTR tasks. Efforts are being made to locate the source of power in the event an assault is approved and power needs to be cut.
Threat Assessment
It is estimated that between 20 and 50 hostages are on site. The number of hostages being freed leads J2 to assess that the X-rays have a large number of hostages still spread throughout the stronghold.
It is assessed that there are a minimum of 12 X-rays in the stronghold in order to control the number of hostages, however this number is probably higher.
Further questioning of Mr. Cadler, the first hostage freed, has produced no further information of use.
