The Fukurodani volleyball team huddled together, whispering incomprehensibly. Today was Akaashi’s birthday and they had planned a party for him but didn’t know how to set it up. After a moment more of discussion, they’d decided that while they were setting the celebration up in the gym, Bokuto would distract Akaashi. All they needed was an oblivious Akaashi and a Bokuto with good acting skills. Unfortunately, they had neither. Akaashi was already suspicious of why nobody was practicing and he had started walking around, questioning what they were doing.

Anytime Akaashi questioned their motives, they would walk away quickly, leaving him and Bokuto behind. After several more minutes of this, he let out a small sigh. Maybe he had done something wrong, why else would they avoid him? The gym was now empty, he hadn’t seen them leave but it seemed like they already had. Akaashi walked towards the locker room, where Bokuto was gesturing towards him.

Akaashi finished changing, gathered his items, and made his way towards the exit before he was stopped by Bokuto. “Akaashi, since the others have already left, someone needs to close up the gym…Do you think you could help me?” He asked. Even now, Bokuto was calling him by his real name. Some birthday, huh? He shrugged, it wasn’t like he would be busy anyways. Bokuto grinned wide. “Hold on, stay here for a moment,” He ran out of the locker room door, leaving Akaashi by himself. He sighed softly. After a moment he heard his name being called on the other side of the door. He turned the door knob reluctantly, staring down at the ground. When he finally looked up, his eyes widened.

“Happy birthday, Akaashi!”
