It's time for the channel to change, or more accurately for me to express more of my actual outlook in these videos. If you've followed my work from the beginning on here you'd be forgiven for thinking that I am the most miserable pessimist around. That I have no real sense that the world can get better. That's not true, but this medium only allows us to show part of ourselves and the truth is that I've changed since February 2021.
With that in mind and thanks to the Patrons for voting for the topic at the perfect time, this is a video about optimism, where I get my optimism from, what it is and why we need it. Yes there'll be the usual pointing at the bad things in this video, but I promise it's only to strengthen the case that while things wont get fixed with one weird trick, that the ball in a lot of cases is already rolling and that's invaluable for those of us actually invested in change.
I'll mention a lot of things that have either failed, met with limited success or haven't achieved their stated goals (yet), but the point of optimism (and one I neglected to mention in the video) isn't to just draw on things that worked, but to understand that there are viable paths to making things better within our control. We can do this, things can and they will change, as long as we don't wallow and sit around waiting for what's coming for us.
