The original composition is called “The Gael,” written by Scottish singer-songwriter Dougie MacLean in 1990. The tune is widely associated with Scotland and became world-famous after being featured in the 1992 film “The Last of the Mohicans” as a rearranged orchestral version under the title “Promentory.”
